La Península de Dingle lleva el nombre del pueblo de Dingle. La península también se llama comúnmente Corca Dhuibhne (Corcu Duibne) incluso cuando quienes se refieren a ella están hablando en inglés. Corca Dhuibhne, que significa "semilla o tribu de Duibhne" (una diosa de la mitología irlandesa y un nombre de clan irlandés), se refiere al túath (pueblo, nación) de Corco Dhuibhne que ocupó la península en la Edad Media y que también poseía una serie de territorios en el sur y este del condado de Kerry.
