Cittareale es una comuna italiana de 437 habitantes perteneciente a la Provincia de Rieti. Se alza sobre el valle junto al antiguo Vicus Phalacrinae , pueblo en que nació el emperador romano Tito Flavio Vespasiano en el año 9 d. C.
Con ocasión al dos mil aniversario del nacimiento de Vespasiano se han llevado a cabo excavaciones arqueológicas en esta localidad desde el 2005 con resultados muy interesantes.
