Cesena es una ciudad en la Emilia-Romaña, región del norte de Italia. Se sitúa al sur de Rávena y al oeste de Rímini, en el río Savio, capital de la provincia de Forlì-Cesena. Está a los pies de los Apeninos y a unos 15 km del mar Adriático.
Cesena fue originalmente una ciudad Umbría o Etrusca. Después de un breve periodo bajo dominio de los galos, fue tomada por los romanos en el siglo III a. C. Ciudad guarnición de estratégica importancia, fue destruida en las guerras entre Mario y Sila. Plinio el Viejo menciona los vinos de Cesena como entre los mejores.
