En 1888 se convirtió en una estación de ramificación, con la activación de la línea a Seregno, prolongada al año siguiente hasta Bergamo.
El 19 de agosto de 2020, un tren de pasajeros que se encontraba en la estación de Paderno-Robbiate, detenido fuera de servicio en la vía de cruce, por causas que se deben aclarar comenzó a moverse autónomamente en descenso hacia Monza, recorriendo aproximadamente 6 km hasta que, para detenerlo, se provocó su descarrilamiento en una vía muerta de la estación de Carnate-Usmate. En el tren se encontró posteriormente un pasajero, que permanecía a bordo desde el viaje anterior hacia Paderno, que resultó levemente herido a causa del descarrilamiento de los primeros vagones.
