El Castillo de Duino es una fortificación del siglo XIV ubicada en Duino, cerca de Trieste, Italia, en los acantilados que dominan el Golfo de Trieste.
La construcción comenzó en 1389 por orden de la familia Wallsee. Las ruinas de un castillo más antiguo construido en el siglo XI por el Patriarca de Aquileia se encuentran en el terreno. En el siglo XIX, se convirtió en una de las dos residencias del Príncipe Alejandro von Thurn und Taxis y su esposa la Princesa María de la rama checa de la Casa de Thurn und Taxis. Aunque no era la más rica de la línea Thurn und Taxis, Alejandro y María apoyaron a artistas y escritores, entre ellos el poeta bohemio-austríaco Rainer Maria Rilke. Mientras era huésped de la Princesa María a principios de 1912, Rilke comenzó a escribir sus Elegías de Duino, una colección de diez largos poemas profundamente filosóficos y místicos que se consideran su obra maestra. Rilke dedicó su obra a la Princesa María cuando se completó en febrero de 1922 y se publicó al año siguiente.
