Justo después de la Primera Guerra Mundial, los belgas intentaron nuevamente incorporar Zelanda Flamenca a Bélgica. Esto ocurrió durante las negociaciones de los "vencedores de la Primera Guerra Mundial" en el Quai d'Orsay (París) en 1919. Quieren incorporar tanto Zelanda Flamenca como Limburgo neerlandés. "Ambas regiones pertenecen históricamente, lingüísticamente y culturalmente a Flandes", es el argumento. Simplemente era un error histórico del pasado que debía ser corregido, pensaron del lado belga. Pero esa "fiesta" no se llevó a cabo...
