En 1846, los antepasados del conocido profesor Vening Meinesz compraron la Eelerberg y sus alrededores como objeto de explotación. La salvaje Eelerberg fue forestada. En 1865 se dio la orden de construir la mansión 'Huize Eelerberg'. La Eelerberg fue un lugar de lanzamiento de la V2 durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Actualmente, la mansión es de propiedad privada y los terrenos circundantes son propiedad de Staatsbosbeheer.
