Aalten es una aldea y la localidad más grande del municipio del mismo nombre en el este de la provincia neerlandesa de Gelderland, que se encuentra cerca de la frontera alemana. El 1 de enero de 2011, la aldea de Aalten contaba con un total de 12,935 habitantes. Aalten está ubicada en la parte oriental de los Países Bajos en la provincia de Gelderland, en la Achterhoek, aproximadamente en el medio de la línea norte-sur Lichtenvoorde - Bocholt (D) y en el medio de la línea oeste-este Varsseveld - Winterswijk.
