El área forestal en Twente se encuentra entre De Lutte y Denekamp y se caracteriza paisajísticamente por el sinuoso valle del río Dinkel, que ha podido conservar su curso natural meandrante hasta hoy. El valle del arroyo Dinkel está incluido como Dinkelland en la Directiva de Hábitats. Lutterzand es considerado un monumento geológico provincial, ya que se puede ver el perfil de las capas de tierra de los últimos 15,000 años. La línea de los 10,000 años es claramente visible. En la "cola verde", en una curva interna del Dinkel, se puede apreciar el desarrollo de un meandro. La orilla de la curva externa está formada por una pared empinada de varios metros de altura.
