El Westland es originalmente una región en la provincia neerlandesa de Holanda del Sur. Se trata de la zona al norte de la Nueva Vía de Agua, al sur de La Haya, al este de Hoek van Holland y al oeste de Delft. El nombre 'Westland' proviene de los oficios occidentales del Hoogheemraadschap de Delfland. Estos oficios occidentales incluyen además de la actual área de cultivo en invernaderos, también Rijswijk, Voorburg y Vlaardingerambacht.
