Aalst es una aldea en el municipio de Zaltbommel en la provincia neerlandesa de Güeldres. Se encuentra en el río Mosa, frente a Veen, en el suroeste de la ciudad de Zaltbommel. La aldea tiene 2.440 habitantes. La mención más antigua conocida de Aalst data de 814/815. Según un documento, un tal Baldericus donó algunas propiedades de "Halosta" al monasterio benedictino de Laurisheim cerca de Maguncia. A finales del siglo X aparecen los nombres "Altisti" y "Aloste", en el siglo XI el nombre "Alaste" y en 1133 el nombre "Aelst".
