Aalst è un villaggio nel comune di Zaltbommel nella provincia olandese di Gelderland. Si trova sulla Mosa arginata di fronte a Veen, nel sud-ovest della città di Zaltbommel. Il villaggio ha 2.440 abitanti. La più antica menzione nota di Aalst risale all'814/815. Secondo un documento, un certo Baldericus donò alcuni terreni da "Halosta" al monastero benedettino di Laurisheim presso Magonza. Alla fine del decimo secolo compaiono i nomi "Altisti" e "Aloste", nell'undicesimo secolo il nome "Alaste" e nel 1133 il nome "Aelst".
