La aldea está situada a unos 12 kilómetros al noreste de Wolvega, entre Nijeholtpade y Nijeberkoop. El 1 de enero de 2021, la aldea contaba con 1.570 habitantes. Dentro de la aldea también se incluyen las localidades de Bekhof y Deddingabuurt. Desde el pequeño puerto en la aldea, cerca de la antigua fábrica de piensos para ganado, el canal Prinsenwijk fluye hacia el norte hacia el Tjonger.
