Blauwestad es una aldea, situada a orillas del Oldambtmeer en el municipio de Oldambt en la provincia neerlandesa de Groningen con aproximadamente 1.025 habitantes. La localidad de Blauwestad, cuyo nombre fue oficialmente reconocido como topónimo en diciembre de 2005, es parte del proyecto Blauwestad. La aldea estuvo hasta el 1 de enero de 2010 dividida entre los antiguos municipios de Reiderland y Scheemda. Blauwestad ha enfrentado en los últimos años un aumento en el número de habitantes: la localidad tenía el 1 de enero de 2012 un total de 385 habitantes, y para el 1 de enero de 2019 este número había aumentado a 566 habitantes. El 1 de enero de 2020, Blauwestad tenía 680 habitantes según CBS Statline, para el 1 de julio de 2020 eran 718, y para el 1 de enero de 2021 aproximadamente 800.
