Hertme es uno de los tres núcleos del municipio de Borne en la provincia neerlandesa de Overijssel. Cuenta con 540 habitantes y se encuentra en un entorno boscoso en la región de Twente, aproximadamente a siete kilómetros al norte de Hengelo. El teatro al aire libre, situado en el corazón de Hertme, es la atracción principal del pueblo. Desde mediados de los años 50 hasta mediados de los años 60, el teatro al aire libre fue especialmente conocido por los Pasos de Hertme que se llevaban a cabo allí anualmente. Dos representaciones anuales que se celebran en Hertme, el Festival de África y Metropool Open Air, atraen a miles de visitantes de toda Holanda o incluso Europa.
