Warffum es un pueblo en el norte de la provincia neerlandesa de Groningen. Pertenece al municipio de Het Hogeland. El 1 de enero de 2021, el pueblo contaba con 2.180 habitantes. No se sabe con exactitud cuándo se fundó Warffum, pero la mención más antigua del nombre se encuentra en la vita del predicador Liudger. En la Edad Media, al sureste de Warffum se encontraba la comandancia homónima de los Johanniter de Warffum. Las dos cruces maltesas en el escudo de Warffum hacen referencia a este monasterio. En marzo de 1535 se intentó atacar la comandancia por un ejército de 70 anabaptistas bajo el mando de Jacob Kremer. Sin embargo, un ejército del stadtholder de Groningen, Carlos de Gelre, logró detenerlos y capturó a 30 de ellos en el cementerio de la iglesia de Warffum. Kremer fue posteriormente ejecutado en la ciudad de Groningen.
