Veenhuizen es una aldea con alrededor de 800 habitantes en la provincia de Drenthe en los Países Bajos. A principios del siglo XIX, se estableció en Veenhuizen una colonia de viviendas reformadas para los pobres y sin hogar por la Sociedad de Benevolencia. A finales del siglo XIX, el complejo se convirtió en una colonia penal. La aldea se volvió accesible al público en 1984 y ha sido parte del municipio de Noordenveld desde 1998. Aquí se encuentra el Museo Nacional del Prisión. Junto con otras colonias establecidas por la Sociedad de Benevolencia, Veenhuizen fue inscrita en la Lista de Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO en 2021, por su testimonio de un método único de reforma de vivienda y su planificación urbana.
