Gulpen es un lugar neerlandés en el Heuvelland de Limburg del Sur con 3.970 habitantes. Es la localidad principal del municipio de Gulpen-Wittem. El municipio de Gulpen-Wittem cuenta con casi 15.000 habitantes. El pueblo está situado en la confluencia del Geul y el Gulp, a una altura de aproximadamente 95 metros. El núcleo se encuentra en el lado sur, contra la Gulperberg. La 'montaña' es un desprendimiento de la Meseta de Crapoel que aquí termina abruptamente. Desde el suroeste, el valle de Gulp desemboca en el valle de Geul. Más al sur, en las laderas de la meseta, hay algunos bosques: el Dunnenbos, el Wagelerbos y detrás de ellos el Schweibergerbos.
