La estación de bombeo 'Leemans' es una de las 2 estaciones de bombeo con las que se drenó el Wieringermeer. Diferencia de nivel 5,5 metros.
En 1926 se inició la conversión del Wieringermeer en tierras agrícolas. La dike de 18 kilómetros se completó en 1930. Para el drenaje del Wieringermeer, a finales de los años 20 se construyeron dos estaciones de bombeo, a saber:
estación de bombeo Lely, una estación eléctrica con tres bombas centrífugas horizontales cerca de Medemblik y
estación de bombeo Leemans, una estación de bombeo diésel con dos bombas centrífugas verticales cerca de Den Oever.
La elección de dos técnicas diferentes, electricidad y diésel, se hizo de forma deliberada. En tiempos de escasez de diésel, la Lely podía hacerse cargo del trabajo y, si se interrumpía la electricidad, la Leemans seguía lista.
