Klooster es una palabra holandesa que significa "monasterio". En el siglo XV, lo que ahora es 't Klooster fue el hogar de un monasterio llamado "Nazaret" o "Schaer" dedicado a la Devotio Moderna. Además, en 2005, se reveló una estatua de bronce, diseñada por el artista Jan te Kulve, que muestra a un habitante del antiguo monasterio vistiendo el atuendo de su orden. En 1975, el nombre 't Klooster apareció por primera vez para la aldea. No tiene señales de nombre de lugar y consta de unas 40 casas.
