Klooster ist ein niederländisches Wort für "Kloster". Im fünfzehnten Jahrhundert war das heutige 't Klooster Heimat eines Klosters namens "Nazareth" oder "Schaer", das der Devotio Moderna gewidmet war. Außerdem wurde 2005 eine Bronzestatue enthüllt, entworfen von dem Künstler Jan te Kulve, die einen Bewohner des ehemaligen Klosters zeigt, der das Outfit seines Ordens trägt. 1975 erschien der Name 't Klooster erstmals für das Dorf. Es gibt keine Ortsschilder und besteht aus etwa 40 Häusern.
