La estación de tren de Boekelo se encuentra en Boekelo en la línea ferroviaria Winterswijk-Hengelo, construida por la Geldersch-Overijsselsche Lokaalspoorweg-Maatschappij y inaugurada en 1884. En 1885 se completó la línea de Boekelo a Enschede. Los trenes directos a menudo llegaban a Enschede Noord, por lo que los viajeros hacia Hengelo tenían que cambiar de tren en Boekelo.
