El Linge es un río que fluye en la Betuwe desde Doornenburg hasta Gorinchem. El Linge fluye en medio de un paisaje variado con huertos, prados, ballenas piloto y lechos de juncos. Con 108 km es el río más largo totalmente neerlandés. A través del Linge, el agua de filtración y las aguas pluviales de más de 70,000 hectáreas de suelo de Betuwe son drenadas y finalmente descargadas en el Merwede.
El Linge fue una vez un río que causaba rupturas de diques e inundaciones. La condición de la tierra era tan incierta que los agricultores eran pagados si dejaban que sus ganados pastaran en algunos polders bajos. Estos polders se inundaban tan a menudo que no había interés en usarlos.
Ahora la Lingestreek es un área única donde el sistema de zanjas y la ubicación de molinos y granjas ha permanecido sin cambios en muchos lugares a lo largo de los siglos.
