La iglesia, originalmente dedicada a San Juan Bautista, tiene una nave románica de una sola nave del siglo XII y un coro gótico de cinco lados del siglo XIV. La torre de 1548 fue construida bajo la dirección de Cornelis Claesz. La altura de la torre es de 72 metros, lo que la convierte en la segunda torre de iglesia más alta de Frisia, después de la torre de Bonifacio en Leeuwarden. El asta de tres secciones mide 31 metros y la aguja esbelta mide 41 metros. La campana de 1525 fue fundida por Geert van Wou y Johannes Schonenborch. El órgano de 1760 de Gerard Stevens fue remodelado en 1764 por Albertus Antoni Hinsz. El interior fue renovado en 1882. La iglesia fue restaurada en 1960-64, 2000 y 2003. La iglesia es un monumento nacional.
