El Rutbeek es un área recreativa, al suroeste de Enschede, en dirección al vecino Buurserzand y al municipio de Haaksbergen. El área fue creada mediante una excavación de arena. La construcción comenzó en 1975 y se completó en 1978.

El área, con una superficie total de aproximadamente 120 ha, se encuentra alrededor de un gran lago recreativo de forma caprichosa y una extensión de cuarenta hectáreas. En el Rutbeek se puede hacer senderismo, ciclismo, mountain bike, natación, surf, piragüismo, pesca, buceo, esquí acuático con cable, volar cometas y hacer barbacoas. La distancia de una caminata alrededor del Rutbeek es de cuatro a cinco kilómetros. El Rutbeek consta de un pantano y cinco playas diferentes, una de las cuales es nudista.
