En el número 415 se encuentra la antigua vivienda de Gerard van het Reve. Gerard van het Reve vivió aquí con sus padres desde 1938 hasta 1948 y escribió 'De Avonden'. El libro describe los últimos diez días de 1946 desde la perspectiva del oficinista de 23 años Frits van Egters. El número 415 (entonces todavía número 116) fue el modelo para la casa en la que se desarrolla 'De Avonden', que en el libro se llama Schilderskade 66. A pesar de la gran admiración por el talento del joven escritor, Godfried Bomans describió el libro como 'tan sombrío, tan privado de toda positividad, tan gris, tan cínico y absolutamente negativo'.
