En el corazón de Het Groene Woud se encuentra el hábitat de los ciervos nobles. Especialmente en la segunda mitad de septiembre, es muy recomendable seguir estas rutas o visitar la zona. Porque es la época de la berrea, es decir, la temporada de apareamiento del ciervo noble.
Más específicamente, lo mejor es ir a De Mortelen (o Paljaart) y parcialmente a De Scheeken.
