¡Este bosque de hayas puede ser con razón rebautizado como el bosque de pájaros carpinteros! El característico tamborileo o picoteo de los pájaros carpinteros se escucha a tu alrededor cuando eliges un momento tranquilo del día.
Las coloridas aves están ocupadas buscando insectos en la madera vieja. También construyen nidos, que son reutilizados con gratitud por el trepador.
Dos arroyos fluyen a través del bosque. En algunos lugares, el tranquilo bosque de hayas se convierte en pradera o en campos de cultivo.
Son notables los dos viejos castillos que se encuentran en el borde del bosque: Castillo Grasbroek y Castillo Limbricht.
