Este pequeño canal de drenaje que fluye hacia el suroeste comienza al sur de Leersum y desemboca 6 kilómetros más adelante en el Kromme Rijn cerca de Wijk bij Duurstede. Las áreas bajas detrás de la dársena del Neder-Rijn (esta dársena se llama erróneamente Lekdijk) en Amerongen, incluyendo la finca Kolland, alimentan este canal de drenaje. La dársena a lo largo del Ameronger wetering es estrecha y es muy transitada.
