Slot Assumburg es un castillo en el este de Heemskerk. Data probablemente originalmente del siglo XIII, pero fue remodelado en 1546 y recibe su nombre del barrio Assum entre Heemskerk y Uitgeest. Se cree que durante la construcción se utilizaron materiales de demolición del castillo Oud Haerlem, pero eso no es cierto. La fuerza que emana el castillo es más apariencia que realidad. En realidad, es una imitación de un castillo medieval. Las delgadas paredes no habrían podido resistir un asedio. Un castillo de este tipo se denomina generalmente castillo de telones.
