El Liesbos se encuentra al sur de Prinsenbeek en el municipio de Breda, entre la línea de tren Roosendaal-Breda y la A58 y frente a la aldea de Lies.
El bosque tiene más de 200 hectáreas y está formado principalmente por árboles de hoja caduca. Es el mayor bosque antiguo de robles en verano de los Países Bajos. En las partes más altas y secas también se han plantado coníferas. El bosque ha sido gestionado por Staatsbosbeheer desde 1899. El nombre Liesbos proviene de la aldea Lies que se encuentra aquí. En 1200, el área fue descrita como la propiedad de Hage y Lies. Desde la Edad Media hay establecida una colonia de garzas.
