Diseñada por el arquitecto suizo-portugués Ernesto Korrodi, esta cueva artificial fue construida a principios del siglo XX y está situada en un nivel más alto que la Casa das Estampas.
Ernesto Korrodi, el arquitecto de la cueva, era de origen suizo pero vivió y trabajó la mayor parte de su vida en Portugal.
La cueva está hecha de piedra natural y es un ejemplo del estilo romántico de Korrodi, visible también en otras partes del parque. El diseño incluye arcos de piedra tosca, cascadas y un rústico quiosco de madera en la cima, lo que la convierte en un lugar pintoresco y sereno para los visitantes. Aunque es totalmente artificial, la cueva está diseñada para asemejarse a una formación natural, con piedras toscas, enredaderas e incluso pequeñas cascadas.
