Designed by Swiss-Portuguese architect Ernesto Korrodi, this artificial cave was built in the early 20th century and is located on a higher level than the Casa das Estampas.
Ernesto Korrodi, the architect of the cave, was of Swiss origin but lived and worked most of his life in Portugal.
The cave is made of natural stone and is an example of Korrodi's romantic style, which is also visible elsewhere in the park. The design includes rough stone arches, waterfalls and a rustic wooden kiosk on top of the cave, making it a scenic and serene place for visitors. Although entirely man-made, the cave is designed to look like a natural formation, with rough stones, vines and even small waterfalls.
