La batalla de Issos fue un encuentro armado entre el ejército macedonio de Alejandro Magno y el persa de Darío III Codomano, en noviembre del 333 a. C.
Tras derrotar al sátrapa local en la batalla del Gránico, la resistencia persa organizada desaparece en Asia Menor, exceptuando algunos focos aislados como Mileto o Halicarnaso. Después de pasar un año asegurando su conquista de la península de Anatolia , Alejandro comienza su ofensiva hacia Siria, con el propósito de neutralizar la peligrosa flota persa capturando sus puertos.
