El puente de Tacoma Narrows es un conjunto de dos puentes colgantes paralelos de unos 1800 metros de longitud cada uno, con un vano principal en ambos casos de 853 m de luz entre apoyos .[1] Forma parte de la carretera Washington State Route 16 en su paso a través de Tacoma Narrows desde Tacoma a Gig Harbor .
En su primera versión tenía el apodo de Galloping Gertie, habiendo sido diseñado inicialmente por Clark Eldridge y modificado por Leon Moisseiff. En 1940, el puente original se hizo famoso por su dramático colapso estructural inducido por el viento, evento que quedó registrado en una filmación. El nuevo puente que lo remplazó se inauguró en 1950, siendo duplicado con una segunda estructura gemela en 2007.
