Übersaxen est situé dans le land le plus à l'ouest de l'Autriche, le Vorarlberg, dans le district de Feldkirch à 899 mètres d'altitude. La commune se trouve essentiellement sur le versant sud de la vallée de Laternsertal à son débouché dans la vallée du Rhin alpin, au-dessus de la commune de Rankweil. La superficie est de 5,76 kilomètres carrés. Dont 53 pour cent sont boisés, 33 pour cent sont des terres agricoles.
