À Bruxelles, on trouve une petite statue du médecin et scientifique Rembert Dodoens sur la Petite Zavel. Au centre de cette place datant de 1890 se dresse la statue des comtes d'Egmont et de Hornes, qui furent décapités sur la Grande Place. Autour d'Egmont et de Hornes se trouvent dix statues de figures célèbres du 16e siècle, dont Dodoens. En examinant les noms sur les statues, on peut constater que Bruxelles était déjà fortement francisée en 1890 : sur la statue de Dodoens, on trouve en effet le nom Dodonée (français pour Dodonaeus).
