Les plus parts des bâtiments sur le Vrijdagmarkt datent du 18ème siècle, la maison socialiste du peuple (Ons Huis, Bond Moyson) quant à elle date du début du 20ème. Bien que la grande baie Art Nouveau et la fenêtre en fer à cheval attirent lattention, il sagit toutefois dun bel exemple de mélange des styles, quon appelle léclectisme. Cest ici quétait autrefois établi le premier hôpital public de Gand.
