L'ancienne abbaye cistercienne d’ordre féminin fondée au XIIIe siècle, héberge désormais l’Institut du Patrimoine wallon. Le Centre de la Paix-Dieu assure la transmission des savoir-faire en matière de Patrimoine architectural (tant pour les artisans que pour les architectes, ingénieurs, archéologues, agents des services travaux, etc …). et organise des classes d’éveil aux métiers du Patrimoine.
Restauré entre 1997 et 2001, l’ancien quartier des hôtes accueille aujourd’hui les activités du Centre de perfectionnement. La restauration de l’ancienne aile de l’abbesse s'est achevée fin 2006 permettant d'accueillir un centre d'hébergement.
