Yvoir est une commune francophone de Belgique située en Région wallonne dans la province de Namur, ainsi qu’une localité où siège son administration.
Il subsiste aujourd'hui les ruines du château médiéval de Poilvache datant des XIIIe et XVe siècles, surplombant la Meuse et dominant le village de Houx. Il occupa une position stratégique au Moyen Âge aux confins de la principauté de Liège et du comté de Namur, lors de la guerre de la Vache.
