Sous l'impulsion du président de l'édifice de l'église, Victor Dufays, professeur en génie civil à l'université de Louvain, les architectes Léon Guiannotte et André Watteyne commencent en 1928 la construction de l'église Saint-Augustin à Forest.
L'église se trouve sur la place de Hoogte-Honderd à Forest et a été consacrée en 1936. Les huit rues du quartier montent vers le bâtiment de l'église.
L'église est construite en béton armé et est considérée comme un exemple caractéristique de la renaissance de l'architecture religieuse dans l'entre-deux-guerres.
