Tirant ses origines de la forêt de Soignes, le domaine Solvay est acquis en 1893 par l’industriel Ernest Solvay qui se contente de réaménager le château construit par son prédécesseur.
Si le bâtiment acquiert sa physionomie actuelle grâce à l’intervention du fils d’Ernest, Armand, c’est le fils de ce dernier, Ernest-John, qui a aménagé le parc en en faisant l’écrin remarquable d’essences rares, de plantes délicates et d’animaux.
Ouvert au public en permanence, le domaine abrite également la Fondation Folon.
