Halanzy est un village ainsi qu'une section de la ville belge d'Aubange située dans la province de Luxembourg et plus particulièrement en Lorraine belge, dans le Pays d'Arlon et dans la Gaume, frontière entre les deux sous-régions.Elle fait partie de la Gaume, sous-région où la langue vernaculaire traditionnelle est le lorrain roman, ou gaumais. Halanzy fait d'ailleurs office de limite linguistique entre la Gaume et le Pays d'Arlon où la langue historique est le luxembourgeois. Cependant le français reste majoritairement utilisé dans ces deux sous-régions.
