Les Kouterbroeken sont un morceau de zone naturelle protégée riche en faune et en flore, situé entre la Kruisstraat (territoire de Ternat) et le cimetière de Wambeek. Les Kouterbroeken sont une forêt accompagnant un ruisseau. Si l'on suivait le cours d'eau qui accompagne les Kouterbroeken, on arriverait par les prairies pastorales au centre de Ternat, près du domaine de Kruikenburg. Les Kouterbroeken sont coupés par la ligne de chemin de fer Denderleeuw-Bruxelles.
