The Kouterbroeken is a piece of protected nature reserve rich in fauna and flora, located between Kruisstraat (territory of Ternat) and the cemetery of Wambeek. The Kouterbroeken is a riparian forest. If one were to follow the stream that accompanies the Kouterbroeken, they would reach the center of Ternat via the pastoral meadows at the estate of Kruikenburg. The Kouterbroeken is crossed by the Denderleeuw-Brussels railway line.
