L'étang à poissons est accessible à tout pêcheur en possession d'un permis de pêche valide, délivré par l'ASBL VZW Vereinigte Gerhagenvissers Tessenderlo (VGT).
C'est l'un des plus anciens peuplements de pins. Les conifères ont presque 100 ans.
La nouvelle génération de forêt est présente dans la sous-couche. Peu à peu, la forêt de conifères devient une forêt de feuillus mélangés.
