De visvijver is toegankelijk voor iedere visser die in het bezit is van een geldig visverlof, afgeleverd door de vzw Verenigde Gerhagenvissers Tessenderlo (VGT).
Dit is één van de oudste dennenbestanden. De naaldbomen zijn bijna 100 jaar oud.
De nieuwe generatie bos is in de ondergroei aanwezig. Stilaan wordt naaldhoutbos een gemengd loofhoutbos.
