Avec neuf ans de retard et un dépassement de budget considérable atteignant 480 millions d'euros, Santiago Calatrava a achevé la gare de Bergen. Bien qu'il soit déjà parti de Valence, il continue à appliquer ce style méditerranéen même dans des lieux gris. Au loin, un long faisceau flotte avec un nez aérodynamique évoquant une locomotive TGV.
Du côté sud de la gare, un nouveau quartier urbain a vu le jour ces dernières années. En 2015, cet autre starchitecte Daniel Libeskind a présenté le nouveau centre de congrès de la ville. Depuis, il y a eu un poste de police, un hôtel de luxe, un bâtiment d'exposition et deux récents immeubles.
