Autour de l'église du village d'Oeren à Alveringem, un cimetière militaire a été créé pendant la Première Guerre mondiale. Y sont enterrés 508 soldats belges. Autrefois, de nombreuses pierres tombales honorant des héros se trouvaient ici, marquées par les lettres AVV-VVK. En février 1918, ces lettres ont été souillées sur environ 38 tombes. Aujourd'hui, vous trouverez encore 5 pierres tombales honorant des héros dans ce cimetière.
