À la frontière entre Aalst et la commune de Nieuwerkerken se trouve le château de Regelsbrugge, également connu sous le nom de château de Schotte. Le nom Regelsbrugge fait référence à un petit pont datant de 1395.
La seigneurie de Regelsbrugge était un important fief de Nieuwerkerken, et s'étendait sur 30 hectares. L'origine et la forme la plus ancienne restent dans l'ombre. Vers 1795, le château a été entièrement rénové par l'ajout d'un étage, ce qui a fait perdre aux fines tours leur élégance gracieuse. En 1878, l'une des aile a été démolie. Auparavant, une cloche était également suspendue dans l'une des tours. On l'appelait la "cloche pattatter" et elle sonnait lors de la kermesse de Saint-Job ou d'autres fêtes.
